There are books and then there are BOOKS. The ones you’ve loved since you were a kid. Or the ones you read later in life during a trying time and they consoled you or made you laugh. These are the books that helped make you the voracious reader you are and sit on your keeper shelf, lovingly dusted every so often or even opened up and re-read again and again.
Since it’s #NationalBookLoversDay, I wanted to share my favorite BOOKS. Each book tells two stories, both what’s contained within its pages and the story I have with it. I borrowed Phantom Tollbooth monthly from my elementary school library and, as a quiet, shy girl found adventure within its pages. I read Pride and Prejudice twice in a row, because once I put it down after the first reading, I wanted to experience the joy of Darcy and Lizzie falling in love all over again. As an overweight 20-something who thought she’d never find love, I cackled as Bridget Jones found no shame in being who she was and finding a man who loved her in all her messy, Granny-panty-wearing glory.
What are your favorite books of all time? And what are the stories you have with them? Happy #NationalBooksLoversDay, friends!
